Homeward Bound Halton (HBH) is an amazing program that brings a new level of innovation in helping struggling single parent women move from homelessness and poverty to successful careers and self-sufficiency. This program is The Foundation’s first-ever multi-year funded initiative and is the largest ever granted program supported by our Fundholders. The program provides single moms the opportunity to receive a tuition paid college education, housing, childcare, as well as wrap around social supports.
“I am blessed to be a participant of this program. The services provided provide me the support I need to keep moving forward.” – says one program mother
“Participating in these workshops has allowed me to gain knowledge in so many different life skills and connect with community partners for help and advice in different areas.” – says another program mother
By the end of 2017 there were 41 individuals supported by the program with 5 mothers successfully graduating from their college program. The Foundation’s goal in supporting Homeward Bound Halton is to enable single mothers the ability to achieve economic self-sufficiency and therein break the cycle of poverty.
