It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Jasenec on Wednesday June 5th peacefully at her home in Oakville in her 87th year.

Helen A. Jasenec

Beloved wife of the late John (2014). Loving mother to her three children who were taken from her far to early, Laurie Burrows (2012), Susan (1984), Johnny (2015), and cherished Nana to Alex (Lauren) Burrows, Daniel Burrows (Bailey Usher) and Mother in-law to Bruce Burrows (Debra Williams) and Julie Jasenec. Helen is survived by her sister Kay Krupa and pre-deceased by her sister Paula (Joe) Szabo and sister in-law Anne (Rudy) Fundarek and brother in-law Stan Krupa. Helen was a beloved aunt to her nieces Monica (Karl Zimmerman), Cathy (John Medal), Joanne Szabo, Judy (Kevin Wright) nephews Stephen (Marg) Fundarek, Peter (Susan) Fundarek, Joe Krupa (Michelle Jursa), Jamie Krupa and caring Great Aunt to Kat Zimmerman, David Medal, Michael Medal, Richard Medal, Thomas Medal, Matthew Fundarek, Jessica Fundarek, Amanda Wright, Kenneth Wright, Susannah Bennett, Jackie Bennett, Katarina Krupa, Mila Krupa

Helen will also be missed by her wide circle of friends and extended family.

Helen was a devout Catholic and staunch supporter of the Slovak Catholic Sokol. She loved to enjoy the magnificent beach at the family condo in Reddington Shores, Florida where many a lasting memory was created while watching the sun melt into the Gulf of Mexico. Helen loved to cook her secret Slovak recipes and was a generous, caring and kind woman truly loved by all who knew her.

In memory of  Laurie Burrows, The Thyme to Thrive Foundation was created to celebrate and recognize Laurie and all that she brought to life. The Thyme to Thrive Foundation was originally focused around cancer, and today, reflects, more fully all that Laurie represents and did while she was here: help people to live fulfilling and happy lives.
